“Betsy DeVos Is Now the Most Powerful Educator In America!”

“Betsy DeVos is now the most powerful educator in America.” That was the first thing I heard when I flipped to NPR yesterday.

You can agree or disagree with the appointment and subsequent approval of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education, but I think we can all agree that…

The most powerful educator is YOU.

Whether you’re the classroom teacher, the lunch aide, the principal, the bus driver, the hall monitor, the front office secretary, the counselor, the custodian, or the superintendent, YOU are the most powerful educator.

YOU come in direct contact with students. YOU are the most powerful educator.

You know your students’ names.  You know…

…what your students like.

…what they dislike.

…what makes them happy.

…what makes them sad.

…what has been bothering them today… or all year.

…where they’ve come from.

…and where they’re headed.

The direct relationship you have with your students makes YOU the most powerful educator.

YOU change the lives of your students.

Thank YOU for making a difference!

Sincerely,

Brian
