SOAR GPS Consulting
Clarity, not another list of things to try
If you've been carrying the whole situation — reports, recommendations, conflicting advice, your child or teen's daily reality — and no one is helping you make sense of it, you're not missing a program.
You're missing someone who can see the whole picture and help you decide.
That's what GPS is for. Two focused sessions with Susan. Full review of everything you've already collected.
A clear understanding of the "why" behind your situation — and a prioritized plan of:
What matters now.
What can wait.
What to ignore.
You leave with a model you can use — not just a list to execute. One that grounds your decisions for years, not just this month.
Not more to do. Less — but the right less.
Susan doesn't diagnose specific conditions. But she does diagnose strengths — and expose leverage points for growth.
Who GPS is for
GPS is for parents who have tried multiple approaches, collected multiple opinions, and still don't have a clear picture of what's going on or what to do next.
It's not a last resort. It's a smarter starting point when:
- You've tried multiple approaches and aren't sure what's actually helping
- Your child or teen's learning profile feels complex or hard to interpret — especially if neurodiversity or multiple learning differences may be involved
- You're flooded with reports, recommendations, or school input that don't align
- Progress feels uneven, stalled, or fragile
- You want a clear plan — not another list of things to try
Many families come to GPS after months (or years) of piecing things together, reacting instead of leading, and carrying too much of the decision-making alone.
GPS changes that.
What GPS is NOT
GPS isn't ongoing support or tutoring. It isn't a diagnostic service.
If you want ongoing parent support, SOAR Circle is the right starting point. If reading is the primary academic concern, SOAR Reading Studio is the right starting point.
GPS is what you choose when the situation has gotten complex enough that you need someone to help you decide, not just implement.
How GPS works
Clarity doesn't come from quick answers. It comes from pattern recognition across your child or teen's full context — academic, emotional, and environmental.
Step 1: Information gathering
Before your first session, you share what you have: school or specialist reports, IEPs or 504s, progress notes, your own observations, and your child or teen's input when appropriate. Susan reviews everything in advance — looking for patterns, alignments, and the gaps between what the reports say and what you're actually seeing at home.
This preparation means your live time is spent on decisions, not decoding paperwork.
Step 2: Call one — synthesis & decision-mapping (50 minutes)
We make sense of the information together. What are the reports actually telling us? What patterns cut across everything? What are the real priorities — and what can be set aside?
This is the call where scattered information becomes coherent. The patterns you've been sensing get named. The decisions you've been stuck on get clearer.
Step 3: Call two — refinement & alignment (50 minutes)
We revisit decisions with the benefit of reflection, clarify implementation priorities, and align next steps with your family's actual capacity.
You leave this call oriented and confident — with a written plan, not a to-do list.
What GPS gives you
- Sense-making: Why approaches have or haven't worked. What the reports mean. How your child or teen's patterns add up.
- Prioritization: What actually deserves your time and energy right now — and what doesn't.
- Decision relief: Less second-guessing. Less mental load. Room for JOY to come back.
- A way forward that's yours: Stop running the plays the system handed you. Start running the plays that match your actual child/teen.
- School advocacy support: A formal letter you can share with teachers, administrators, or specialists — translating what we've learned into language they act on.
In GPS, responsibility for making sense of the situation is shared. You're no longer carrying it alone.
Ongoing support included
GPS is designed to provide clarity first. To support implementation, GPS includes:
- SOAR Circle Membership for 3 months — parent support, tools, and community
- Reading Studio – Independent for 3 months — structured reading practice and progress data
These run alongside your GPS process so you have a stable foundation as decisions become action.
FAQ
What if our situation changes?
GPS clarifies priorities for now and what can wait. If context shifts, you'll know which levers to adjust first.
What if we want a higher level of Reading Studio support?
You don't need to decide that ahead of time. If Reading Studio is part of the picture, we'll evaluate the right level during your first GPS session and adjust later based on what we see.
Will this add more to our plate?
GPS reduces your to-do list. Expect fewer priorities and a clearer sense of what can wait.
What do we walk away with?
Two focused 50-minute sessions, recordings of both, a written summary with prioritized next steps, and — when helpful — a formal letter you can share with school.
Is GPS appropriate if my child or teen is neurodivergent or has multiple learning differences?
Yes. GPS is often most helpful when learning profiles are complex. It doesn't focus on labels — it focuses on how multiple factors interact, so decisions about support, school, and next steps feel clearer.
